Four Employees Earn CARE Awards for Going Above & Beyond for Residents

Four employees of St. Ann’s Community were recently recognized for going above and beyond in caring for residents and contributing to a positive environment. Congrats to Kathy, Shanokie, Jeremy, and Sandhya – our Care Award Winners for October!

The St. Ann’s CARE Award is presented to employees who exemplify the “St Ann’s Experience,” which includes being responsible for results; leading by example; performing as one team; sharing expertise; and delivering a personalized experience. Awardees are nominated by their supervisors or other St. Ann’s leaders.

Kathleen Cummings – Administrative Assistant, Chapel Oaks

A few weeks back, Kathy was about to leave for the day but stayed for an emergency call for a Chapel Oaks resident. The resident was experiencing a stroke and without thinking twice, Kathy knelt down next to her, comforting her and staying by her side until the medics arrived. Not only did she think with her head but also with her heart!

Shanokie Ellison – Concierge, St. Ann’s Care Center

In recent months, Shanokie has taken personal responsibility to enhance the life of a resident of St. Ann’s Care Center. She has encouraged Alice to come out of her shell and participate in activities, and has made her feel important and valued. Jeremy Frate – Food Service

As a member of the Quality team at the Wegman Care Center, Jeremy helps provide a safe environment for our residents and staff, including maintaining high standards for food safety. His leadership and focus on quality have resulted in reduced waste and an improved dining experience for our residents.

Sandhya Sarlaskar RD – Quality Assurance

Through a conversation with a colleague in Nutrition, Sandhya became aware of a St. Ann’s Home resident from Bengal who was eating very little. The floor staff knew the resident enjoyed food from a local Indian restaurant. Knowing this, Sandhya offered to make a special dessert that the resident enjoyed. She brought in the dessert and several items from an Indian grocery store, to the resident’s delight. She also arranged for a friend who speaks the Bengali dialect to visit the resident. Thank you, Sandhya, for going above and beyond and making this resident feel at home.
