Sixteen of those 28 residents were present at the Centenarian Salute. The Centenarians were encouraged to bring photos and mementos from their younger years for a “memory table,” and everyone in attendance loved looking at memories from years gone by. There were also fun facts and history from 100 years ago in 1918, which was a time when life expectancy was only 54 years old.
“Our oldest resident is 104, and our second oldest resident is 103,” says Aimee Bodine, a Life Enrichment Advocate at St. Ann’s Home. “We also have almost twice as many honorees this year compared to last year’s celebration, which is amazing.”
New York State Assembly Majority Leader Joe Morelle joined the celebration by greeting the Centenarians and their families while hand-delivering proclamations from the NYS Assembly. The proclamations celebrate the Centenarians who have endured a century of triumph and survivorship during the period of the world’s greatest change.
In the words of Assemblyman Morelle, “It is remarkable all the things that have happened in your lifetime.”
